The Cradle of Humankind - declared a World Heritage site in 1999 - is a 47 000-hectare area in the western part of Gauteng Province with around 40 different fossil sites where several of the world's most famous and important fossils have been discovered. It is the world's richest early hominin site and is home to around 40% of the world's known human ancestor fossils. We offer scheduled full-day tour combining the first three of the following four attractions:
- Sterkfontein Caves
- Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve
- Wonder Caves
- Maropeng Centre
A private tour can be booked to combine any of the 3 attractions.
The Carnivore Restaurant offers a variety of different types of meat such as pork, lamb, beef, chicken, ribs and sausages and includes such game meats as crocodile, zebra, giraffe, impala, ostrich, etc. Lunch is for your own account.
PLEASE NOTE: If the Caves are closed, it will be replaced with the Maropeng Centre.
