08:00 - Departure from Kirstenbosch Gardens Visitors Centre or Local Hotel |
Join our experienced mountain guide for a half-day hike on the rocky trails of Lions Head and enjoy climbing this icon in the hands of a local expert.
Our creative route planning ensures the way up is different from the way down, offering you the most from a hike on Lions Head.
Learn about Cape Town's history, the geology of the Table Mountain massif and the unusual plants and animals that make its slopes their home. As a local, our guide will bring the mountain to life for you!
Life is too short to drink bad coffee, even while you're hiking - we'll treat you to our legendary mountain refreshment stop and make sure you are kept fuelled and hydrated along the way.
For safety in a mountain environment, we operate with one guide per 6 people. Larger groups will be divided into smaller groups.
Safety: Not everyone feels equally comfortable on steep ground, so our guides carry a 30m climbing rope to provide additional confidence to hikers who need it.
Guides also carry a GPS tracker that provides real-time tracking of their location. A panic alarm triggers an immediate response from our office and emergency services.

Comments |
Lions Head has several trails on the lower slopes but only one trail following the ridgeline to the summit. Our route follows the standard route up the mountain to the summit, but then makes use of alternative paths off the mountain to offer a full experience of the mountain. |
