Prof Abdou Niang is a Professor of Nephrology and Head of the Nephrology Department at the Faculty of Medicine of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. He is an internal medicine and nephrology specialist.

Prof Niang is the President of the Senegalese Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation [SOSENDT], he is also the Co-Chair of the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis [ISPD] African Chapter.

Prof Niang has served as Chair of the Dialysis Working Group of the International Society of Nephrology [ISN] from 2021 - 2023 and is currently the President Elect of the African Association of Nephrology [AFRAN] from 2023 - 2025.
